☺Perfect location, the island is a green and calm  corner of Stockholm. It is in the walking distance to the metro station. The breakfasts were delicious, they offered gluten-free options which was great. The room was small, obviously, but surprisingly comfortable! Amazing hotel. The rooms and the decor are super well kept. You have to make sure you visit the museum.

We loved our three night stay here. Being able to hire bikes from the hotel (250sek/day) was really handy. Swimming on the nearby beach was also amazing. Exceptional stay that makes me want to keep returning!

☺I was pleasantly surprised by what a luxurious hotel this turned out to be. The bunk beds, both bottom and top, were superbly comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The breakfast was exceptional. For how expensive everything is in Stockholm, this hotel really came in through and beat expectations. I'd stay here ten times over any other overpriced hotel or AirBnB in Stockholm. The surrounding park and river/lake also made it so we preferred walking to our destinations to pass through the beautiful scenery instead of relying on public transportation.

Wow. Great service. All hours reception. I had a glass of wine around 11:30 PM in the prison yard. Rooms are exciting. We had a family room with ample space. Single rooms are... Cozy.
The breakfast is a top notch swedish breakfast buffet. Well thought out, many swedish options, beautiful dining space, indoors or out.
It's a little walk onto the island but we thought it was a pleasant transition from the hustle and bustle. Parking looked very generous. And you're right next door to Hornstull with every amenity and service once you get off the little island. Recommend renting a kayak. We also went swimming in the sea 200M from the hotel entrance.

High Quality Hotel, should be an award winner
This should be a TripAdvisor Award winner but I guess a lack of TA reviews means it gets left out. Put this on your shortlist for Stockholm hotels, actually, just book it. In a converted gaol, this is an interesting hotel even before you consider the quality, comfort, and service. Rooms aren't huge, but they are comfortable, smart use of space, and the bathrooms surprisingly spacious. If you want a cosy place to read a book or write a letter, there are heaps of nooks where they've set up sofas, arm chairs, tables etc. The great - Service. Staff are friendly and attentive. It feels like they'll do everything to ensure your stay is perfect (many hotels seem to have forgotten this). - Breakfast (and on site restaurant). The buffet breakfast is amazing. Loads of fresh foods and home made items. Everything is excellent quality. You've got some hot items (bacon, scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages, pancakes), a vast selection breads, Swedish and general continental fare... One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had (I'm still dreaming about the homemade Nutella). Make sure to have dinner or lunch here too. - The building. You get access to the on site museum which is fascinating. - The location. It's on an island which is nice to walk around. If you have kids there's plenty for them to do. It's incredibly quiet, and only a 25min walk along the waterfront into old town. Plenty of shops and cafes about 7min walk away, along with the subway station. The good - Beds. The linen is nice, plenty of pillows, comfortable bed. Note that it's up against the wall to make the most of the space in the room. My only issue was that the topper slid around a bit. - Bathroom. Clean, spacious. Good water pressure too. - Parking. The average - Number of electrical sockets in the room, they need another close to the bedhead. - Room temperature. It was fine with a window open but need an option to turn off the heated towel rail. The bad NOTHING There's also hostel accommodation which is nice to know if you're on a budget, and means there's a guest kitchen. We've stayed in converted gaols elsewhere and none come close to the quality of this place. This is a real treat and will make your stay in Stockholm far more interesting.
